Pins for spring

I just finished these pins. I have to say that they are getting very fancy. Or is that full of detail?
Bead tassels, vintage buttons, feathers and sequins.

I have a feeling some of them will be better in your hair...maybe I need a new line of hair goodies. Big flowers on a headband perhaps?

Fabric bags

After many attempts to try printing on paper I finally did it! I found myself one day painting with the kids and came up with this funny robot face. Another week passed and and one night there was a moment and I finally printed it out. It was really simple. Paint,scan,print,rinse and iron.

I used store bought and ready to print fabric but you can also use freezer paper and back your own fabric.

 Now I want to do MORE!

I sent this bag Colorado way to a lovely friend I have know for the last four years. He has a love for organizing so I also included this (really easy to make) pencil/marker holder.

This idea is from The Creative Family. I will for sure make more of these!

After making the robot bag I had to make another and send it along for his brother.

Fabric bag for the boy.

I had a bit of time and finally made Asher a nice bag to carry his blanket in to preschool.

I found this fabric at Jo-Ann's maybe 2 years ago . The plan was to make a valance for his bedroom. Well that never happend!

So I use it to make him a bag. I do love the fabric. So retro and sweet.

Spring summer hats

Spring

How perfect! 

A nice "warm" sunshine day to make my first delivery of the season. Turtle has got my new spring hats! I just spent a nice hour with the lovely Ariel and it was a lot of fun to go though the collection and get some feedback.

This season I made a slightly bigger sunhat. For real sunny days, that we will have soon...I hope.

I used great Michael Miller and Tina Given's fabric. I bought these from sewlovefabrics on Etsy.

I really enjoyed working with these bold, vibrant colours.

The smaller brim hats feature fabric by Tina Given, Amy Butler and Heather Bailey. Again strong fun fabrics. This style is so easy to wear. I did also use some vintage fabric can you spot the one?

I really did love making all the silk chiffon scarfs. The fabric so fits my style of one of a kind. I can think of so many combinations....now I just need more time.

Spring preview

I thought today I will share the new silk chiffon scarfs I have been working on for spring and summer. 

I am having a lot of fun playing with the new vintage plastic links I got from Blue Bird Supply

 They seem to turn the scarfs into a mixture between jewelry and scarf.

Spring

Working on spring, hard to believe. We have had nice weather. Last week I ordered some great new prints for hats from  sewlovefabrics. The lovely fresh bundle of fabric came with a sampler to tempt me into buying more but Ady got hold of it and started putting them together. I loved watching her line the pieces up and turn them and after a while find another use for them. Never thought of cutting squares of fabric for her.

In the studio:

After giving the studio a really good cleanup ,dust and a rethinking of space and stuff I am now busy working on a new pattern for the fabric hats and at the moment are having a lot of fun with my new line of silk chiffon scarfs. Will post photos as soon as I can.

Last show of the season

Hard to believe it is December 6. Today will be the last show of the year for me and I am looking forward to a great day! It will be cold and I hope busy.

The fair is at the First Church in JP and starts at 11am. There will be more that one venue so a lot of opportunity to do holiday shopping.

Sweet creative cakes

I just recently purchased two great cookbook/lifestyle books and was really inspired by Jane Brocket and her fairy buns.

The use of color in her baking is so inspiring and creative even for a person that is not a baker like me! 

I made the cup cakes for a dinner party and the chocolate cake was to take to a Thanksgiving meal we had with friends. Yes those are rolo's on top and maybe one day I will figure out how to make a chocolate turkey cake!

Its that time of year.

I saw these great wrist warmers on my fiend Jeanne's blog. Her work is really great, and the blog is worth a visit even if just to see her sweet kids wearing her creations.

I approached her for a pair and we were able to so a swop. How nice. 

I made her this hat for a family member. 

The ladybug button is vintage and the hat is lined with olive flannel and the outside is corduroy. It makes such a difference to use rick-rack in the crown seams looks really finished.

Turtle trunk show fun

Thanks to everyone at Turtle for a great trunk show last weekend. It was so much fun and very humbling to meet the women that shop at this great store. Thanks to all of you that visited and tried on the hats.

Only took two years!

Bibs. I finally made Ady some bibs last month. It only took almost two years. Thanks for the inspiration Jeanne!.

I did just trace bib to use as a pattern. Then scraps of cotton I had in the studio. Lined them with flannel and used old fabric diapers that was passed on from my sister for inside to make them really absorbent.

I used the biggest press studs I could find as closure and it is really secure.

Now I just need to make about 10 more!

Yellow

Another preview of what i am busy with for the Park School Market.

I thinks the black/white/green and bright yellow combination works so well for the weather at the moment. This scarf has some leather pieces sewn on.

The hat will need a black coat or herringbone jacket to show off the really bright yellow velour felt.

Crazy scarf.

I think I have just made a very vibrant scarf ! And I love it!

There is a lot of different textures. Velvet, tea dyed cotton, vintage cotton yo-yo's and black and white polka dot corduroy!

This scarf is for my ever growing collection for my next market. Park School Market Place.

The Store at DeCordova

New hats at the Store at the DeCordova museum in Lincoln.

Just dropped off 7 pieces at the DeCordova museum store. Great colours. Charcoal,wine,navy and black. All velour felt decorated with leaves. I used felt and sewed onto the felt with contrasting thread.

All small shapes to hug the head in the cold days to come.

PS Lincoln is so beautiful right now lots of leaves everywhere.
